Help Us Continue Saving Lives

Bichons and Buddies was founded in 2004 by Jeanine Curcione.  For over 15 years Bichons and Buddies has been saving homeless dogs from high-kill shelters and taking in dogs people can no longer keep.  This year we have focused on helping the seniors which unfortunately are dumped by their callous owners to die alone after a life time of devotion.  It's been incredibly rewarding to see them get adopted into loving homes thanks to a senior dog rescue group we work with in Canada.  However, the medical bills have been staggering due to years of neglect.  Each dog is provided the necessary vet care and the TLC needed to prepare them for placement into a forever home.

We believe that every dog deserves a chance to be loved and live out its life free of abuse and neglect and that ADOPTION should be the ONLY OPTION.

Funds raised through Bichons and Buddies 5K will help ensure that we are able to continue providing critical care for dogs needing emergent medical care and the discarded seniors who still have so much life and love to give.

No Dog Left Behind

The unfortunate thing about the times we are in is that vet care is more expensive than people care.  Pet insurance helps greatly but not all people can afford it.  When their pet becomes ill or is HBC (shelter code for HIT BY CAR) they take it to their local shelter and turn it in.  Cudos to LA City and LA County shelters for having animal advocate organizations at the front entrance handing outflyers that clearly state the dog they're abandoning MAY BE KILLED.  The older the dog and the bigger the issue the more likely they will be one of the first to go.

Bichons and Buddies has been overwhelmed this year with vet bills. Out of the average of 30 DOGS  A MONTH that we rescue, a large portion of them are older and have been abandoned.  They just need a temporary home to rest and regain their spirit.

Please consider opening your hearts and homes to one of our angels for as short as two weeks or SPONSOR AN ANGEL FOR THEIR JOURNEY HOME.

Help us Continue Helping Them

Our goal has always been to help as many as we can and the ones who need us most.  The enormous number of dogs in Southern California will never be able to be absorbed by local adopters.  That's why so many shelters here transport a percentage of their population to humane societies and other shelters in the Pacific Northwest as well other parts of the country.

While we still do local adoptions, our relationships with other rescue groups  in Washington and Canada have allowed us to save more homeless dogs than ever.  Of course our vet bills, kennel fees and supplies are more than ever as well and that is why we need your help to continue our mission in the upcoming year.

These are just some examples of the difference we've made in so many lives, both human and dogs.
